Memorials Policy Review

Consultation has concluded.

Maryborough War Memorial

The Memorials Policy was last reviewed in 2011. At the April 2024 Council Meeting, Councillors endorsed this policy for community feedback.

We recognise that members of the community may wish to use a public space to commemorate a loved one through the planting of a memorial tree, erection of a monument, memorials and plaques of the naming of public spaces.

The Memorials Policy is important because it ensures requests are assessed in a consistent and accountable way.

The policy was developed to establish clear guidelines in the following areas;

  • Plaques and Memorials
  • Cremated remains
  • Roadside memorials

We encourage you to read through the policy and we welcome any feedback on the Memorials Policy until 27 May 2pm.
