Council to step away from aged care service delivery

Following changes to the Commonwealth funding model, and after extensive and sensitive community and staff consultation, this week’s meeting of Council made the difficult decision to transition away from direct Aged Care service delivery from 1 March 2024.

For now, all current services will remain business as usual and clients will continue to receive the services they have been assessed for. Council will continue to inform all clients, staff and the broader community as the new models of care emerge.

The new Commonwealth Government Support at Home (SAH) program will integrate a broad range of Aged Care programs, offering a diversity of services local government cannot sustainably provide. These changes are part of the National

Reform of Aged Care scheduled to commence from 1 July 2025.
